A 90 hectare block of ancient woodland, predominantly lime and oak, situated between East Dereham and
Norwich in Norfolk. Hockering Wood is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and is managed by Michael Ryder of Oakbank Game & Conservation Ltd. During WW2 it was used by the RAF for bomb storage.
Footage was shot here in June 1990 for use in
Series 4 of
Knightmare, which featured such outdoor locations as the Forest of Dun and
Dunkley Wood.
The wood is privately owned by the Hutton family but is open to the public from April to August - visit the
website for opening hours and terms of entry.
